TICA and CFA Certifications
You may have seen some breeders saying they are TICA and CFA certified. This is an extra stamp of approval that they registered their cats and are maintaining a high standard.
Here’s what these organizations mean:
The Cat Fanciers’ Association (CFA) is the largest, most experienced, and most respected cat registry in the world.
The CFA has become the single source for all things related to cats and cat fanciers. It has a membership of over 165,000 people worldwide who own purebred cats or subscribe to their periodicals.
The International Cat Association (TICA) is the world’s largest purebred cat registry and the only global organization that represents all breeds of cats.
TICA was founded in 1967 and currently has more than 190 member associations, with more than 20,000 members in 90 countries.
Average Price of a Ragdoll Kittens
It’s always hard to give an estimate of what you can expect to pay as the price of Ragdolls and most pedigree cats can vary so much.
Generally speaking, however, you can expect to pay somewhere in the region of $500-$3,000 for a Ragdoll kitten depending on the pedigree, colors, and some other factors.
To give you a better idea, here is a rough price guide:

Are Ragdoll Cats High Maintenance?
Ragdoll cats are playful, relatively laid back, and very sweet. The only thing you really need to be prepared for is brushing them a couple of times a week.
Not only are their coats naturally longer than short-haired breeds, but they also require a little more care than other breeds to avoid matting.
If you enjoy grooming your cat – and it’s a great way to bond – then it’s not going to be a chore.
Personally, I don’t mind giving my cats a brush when I’m spending time with them. So, I don’t really see Ragdolls as high maintenance for that reason.
But I can appreciate why some owners don’t want to do it. They also love attention and interacting with us and other animals, so make sure you have plenty of interactive toys.

AdoptaPet.com – AdoptaPet is an online resource that helps connect you with hundreds, maybe even thousands of rescues, shelters, and other places where there are cats in need of homes.
I’m not going to put any pressure on, but there is something rewarding about taking in an adult cat in need of a home.
Ragdolls on Reddit – There is a huge community (25k+ at the time of publishing) over on Reddit.
It’s a good place to make some friends, share cute pictures, and ask any specific questions you have.
Do Ragdolls Make Good Pets?
Absolutely, Ragdolls are awesome pets!
One thing – you will be amazed at their size and weight when they’re fully grown as the pictures really do not do them justice.
Ragdolls are a large breed, with males weighing between 15-20 pounds and females being between 12-18 pounds.
They are known to be laid back and gentle giants though and are far from intimidating.
These cats are great for families with children because they love attention and playing and you don’t need to worry about scratching (don’t test this with a tail pulling toddler!).
As kittens, they are fluffy balls of fun and really enjoy playtime and having their own furniture like a cat tree to play with.
As they grow up, you’ll see their individual characters coming out along with the mild-natured, affectionate, and loving traits that Ragdolls are known for.
If you’re looking for a new addition to your home and want a cat that’s interactive (when not sleeping most of the day), enjoys your company, and has a dazzling personality – a Ragdoll is going to be perfect!
