I spent a lot of time (so you didn’t have to) putting together a list of breeders that were selling Ragdolls in the state of Colorado below.

TICA and CFA Certifications
It can be tough choosing a cattery or breeder, especially if you’re not able to view their premises.
One way you can get peace of mind is to see they are certificated by either the CFA or TICA. These are two highly-regarded pure breed organizations that help breeders maintain ethical and proper practices.
Here is an overview of what these organizations do:
The International Cat Association (TICA) is an organization that was founded in 1967 with the primary purpose of upholding high standards of breeding for cats.
They require extensive education from their members and are involved in various activities such as showing, judging, and organizing World Championships.
The Cat Fanciers’ Association (CFA) is the world’s premier cat organization and the largest registry and show organization for pedigreed cats.
The CFA recognizes five long hair & six shorthair breeds of cats as well as three types of longhaired kittens. Only registered purebred cats are allowed to participate in any CFA show or event.
What Is the Average Price of a Ragdoll?
The average price for a Ragdoll cat is in the $1,000 to $1500 range. Although the price can keep rising into the high thousands of a rare pedigree.
There are a large number of factors that contribute to the cost of a Ragdoll, so it’s worth discussing this with any breeders you call.
To give you a (very) rough guide, you can expect to pay somewhere in the region of:
Type of Ragdoll | Approximate Price |
---|---|
Household Pet | $500+ |
Specialist Coloring | $1,500-3,000+ |
Show Quality | $2,000-3,000+ |
Purebred Quality | $2,000-3,000+ |
Additional Resources
I thought I’d share some additional resources that I think will come in handy for some new or prospective Ragdoll parents:
AdoptaPet.com – AdoptaPet is an online resource that helps connect you with hundreds, maybe even thousands of rescues, shelters, and other places where there are cats in need of homes.
I’m not going to put any pressure on, but there is something rewarding about taking in an adult cat in need of a home.
Ragdolls on Reddit – There is a huge community (25k+ at the time of publishing) over on Reddit.
It’s a good place to make some friends, share cute pictures, and ask any specific questions you have.
Are Ragdoll Cats High Maintenance?
That depends on who you ask!
In my opinion, they’re not high-maintenance at all. Ragdolls do require more grooming than, say, an average short-haired cat would need though.
But as long as you’re willing to spend a few minutes brushing your Ragdoll a couple of times a week, this shouldn’t be seen as a chore.
Ragdolls also enjoy the company and interacting with humans – when it suits them of course. But again, if you’re looking for a 100% self-sufficient pet, maybe a cat isn’t for you…
As a general rule, the busier your household the better. Ragdolls enjoy playing with other cats, they’re great with kids and will give you plenty of affection.
Are Ragdolls Good Family Pets?
Ragdolls are great family pets! That’s not me being biased, they have the perfect temperament for house cats and adapt well to their surroundings.
The reason why Ragdolls are one of the most popular exotic breeds to be commonly kept as house pets is because they’re so friendly.
Ragdolls are fairly big, but they’re big softies. Their docile temperament makes them perfect for houses with kids of any age, and they enjoy the company of other animals.
If anything, they’re much happier in busier homes as they do need company. But they’re still cats at the end of the day, you can go out without worrying about them.
Then there’s the brushing as I mentioned above. You or someone in your home needs to be willing to give them a good brush a few times a week.
As long as those basic needs are met, I can’t imagine anything less than a Ragdoll being the perfect addition to your home.
