How Much Does a Persian Cat Cost?

Looking at some cattery pricing pages, most Persians cost anywhere between $1,000 to $2,000.

However, some may be quite a bit less or more depending on the breeder and the specific variety.

To get a general idea, it is best to visit different catteries in person or look at their websites to see what they charge for their Persians.

What to Look for From a Cattery or Breeder

I listed some of the best breeders and catteries near you above, but it’s up to you to do your due diligence.

When looking for a Persian cat breeder, here are a few things to keep in mind:

  • The breeder should be able to provide you with references from other happy customers or some kind of social proof.
  • They should also be able to answer any and all questions you have about the breed.
  • A good breeder will also want to meet you in person before making a sale. This is to ensure that you are a good fit for their kitten and that they are comfortable entrusting their kitten to you.

When you do visit, make sure you pay close attention and look for any red flags.

The kittens should be healthy and well-cared for and the breeder should seem knowledgeable about the breed.

You should also make sure the kittens have been socialized and seem comfortable around people if they’re old enough.

If everything checks out, then congratulations! You’re on your way to adopting a beautiful Persian kitten!

Make Sure You Read the Adoption Agreement Carefully

Professional catteries will always provide you with an adoption agreement,  which is essentially a contract between you and the breeder.

Be sure to read this agreement carefully before signing or agreeing to anything.

It will outline the responsibilities of both parties and help to protect you in case there are any problems with the kitten after adoption.

For example, a good breeder will guarantee that their kittens are healthy and free from genetic defects.

They should also provide you with a health certificate from a veterinarian.

The agreement may also outline things like feeding schedules, vaccinations, and spaying or neutering.

So, make sure you understand everything that is written in the agreement before signing on the dotted line!

There Are Different Persian Cat Varieties

You should be aware that the classic Persian is the Doll-face Persian, and that there are actually a few different varieties of Persian cats.

The Doll-face Persian is the most popular type and has a more traditional “flat-faced” look.

But there is also the Peke-faced Persian, which has a slightly different facial structure.

Then there are also the Teacup Persians, which are smaller in size due to having been bred with other small cat breeds.

There are also Chinchilla and Exotic Shorthair varieties, which have different coat types.

So, when you are looking to adopt a Persian kitten, be sure to ask the breeder what type they have available.

This way you can make sure you are getting exactly what you want.

Are Persians Good Family Cats?

Persians make great family cats!

They are gentle, loving, and affectionate. They also get along well with other pets, so if you have a dog or another cat, they will likely get along just fine.

Of course, as with any pet, it is always best to introduce them slowly and supervised at first to make sure everyone gets along okay.

Persians are also relatively low-maintenance when it comes to grooming.

The only real drawback is that their long, thick fur does require daily brushing and combing to prevent knots and mats from forming.

But that’s more fun than it is a chore and other than that, they are a relatively easy breed to take care of.
