Short History of the Persian Cat

The Persian cat breed has a long history behind it. In ancient Egypt, they were known as the “Cats of Bast,” These cats have been around since before 500 BC. They have become one of the most popular cat breeds in America today—both at home and in pet stores.

Persians are affectionate, playful, and friendly animals who enjoy being around people; their sweet temperaments make them great companions for families with kids or anyone looking for an easy-going friend who likes to snuggle up on your lap or into your arms (or both).

Do Persian Cats Shed?

Persian cats are known for their long, silky fur. Their coats come in a variety of colors, which include black, silver and tan with spots or stripes. The coat is medium-long and soft to the touch.

Persian cats require regular grooming to keep their fur clean and healthy. Shedding is one reason Persian cat owners should regularly bathe their pets to prevent coat matting during the shedding season (springtime through winter).

How Much Does a Persian Cat Cost?

The price of a Persian cat depends on the breeder, but you can expect to pay anywhere from $100 to $200. If you’re looking for a cheap option, consider adopting one from your local shelter or rescue group. These cats come with challenges that may include health problems or behavior issues, but they’re also less likely to have been bred by an unethical breeder (who often brings in outside cats).

The Persian might be right for you if you are looking for a new cat. They are very affectionate and have all the characteristics one would look for in an ideal pet. The only downside is their size, which makes them less suitable as family pets than some other breeds (for example, Siamese cats).
