There are a few factors to take into account. Such as the age of the cat, markings, and where you’re buying it from.
As a general guess however, you can expect to pay anywhere between $500-$1,000 for an adult Munchkin cat.
How Much Does a Munchkin Kitten Cost?
There are various types and looks of Munchkin cats so the price can vary depending on the look, colors, and specific type of Munchkin.
I contacted a couple of breeders, and as a general guideline, I was told to expect to pay around $800-$1,200 for a Munchkin from a reputable breeder.
Do Munchkins Make Good Family Pets?
Munchkins make great family pets. Due to their short legs, they are primarily indoor cats so you can expect to see them a lot.
They are very social and love being around people and other pets. All you need to do is give out plenty of fussing and you’ll get loads of love back in return.
They are smart too. So you can challenge them with games, they will pick up on your habits and routines, and you’ll notice them paying attention to things.
Do Munchkin’s Require Any Special Attention?
Despite being bred to have short legs, there are not any known medical issues as a result.
They are small cats, typically weighing around 3-4 kg’s, and have a life expectancy of 12-14 years.
The only real extra care and attention to be aware of is grooming a long-haired variety. As with all long-haired cats, you need to pick up a good grooming brush and get them used to being brushed from an early age.
