Crumbs & Whiskers | Kitten & Cat Cafe
Address – 7924 Melrose Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90046
Phone – 323-879-9413
Website – https://crumbsandwhiskers.com/
Crumbs & Whiskers partners with local cat rescues to save homeless kittens and cats and give them residence in their cafe.
Their overall mission is to reduce euthanasia in animal shelters and improve the lives of homeless cats.
This is a mission that I love. I only wish there were most cat cafes and organizations doing the same thing to help the homeless cat population of California.
CatCafe Lounge
Address – 1736 S Sepulveda Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90025
Phone – 310-254-7246
Website – https://www.catcafelounge.com/
CatCafe Lounge is LAs only nonprofit Cat Cafe, and they say it’s their mission to, “make our cats rich, not people.”
All contributions go to helping cats at risk of being euthanized, and to take it a step further all the cats in the cafe have been rescued and rehomed.
They have anywhere in the range of 20-30 adoptable cats at any one time, so it’s definitely a place for cat lovers to visit.
KitTea Cat Lounge
Address – 1266 Valencia St, San Francisco, CA 94110
Phone – 415-658-7888
Website – https://www.kitteasf.com/
KitTea Cat Lounge’s mission is to, “not only save cats, but also show humans just how relaxing and heart-warming they can be.”
As San Francisco’s first cat cafe, if you live in the area you’ll be well aware of KitTea Cat Lounge.
If you’re visiting from afar, it’s well worth the visit. All of the resident cats are high-risk rescues and are available for adoption.
The Cat Café
Address – 302 Island Ave Suite 101, San Diego, CA 92101
Phone – 619-786-2289
Website – https://catcafesd.com/
Simply called ‘The Cat Cafe’, this coffee and pastry shop serves up delicious food and drink amid a bunch of friendly cats.
They rescue cats from The Rescue House, and also offer a range of other cat-related activities such as Cat Yoga classes!
The Cat Café is Southern California’s first cat cafe, it’s won numerous awards, has excellent Google ratings – what are you waiting for?
Cat & Craft
Address – 3211 Business Park Dr #3b, Vista, CA 92081
Phone – 760-295-1181
Website – https://catandcraftcafe.com/
Cat & Craft’s mission is to, “positively impact cat rescue and adoptions through the creation of a fun, safe and loving environment that promotes authentic connections between people and the rescue cats we foster.”
With good food and drink and a host of cats in an 800 square foot environment filled with cat furniture, Cat & Craft is one of California’s premium cat cafes.
They also have a stunning mural of a cat on the wall which makes for the backdrop where lots of people take pictures.
Catmosphere Laguna Foundation
Address – OC
Phone – 949-619-6369
Website – https://www.catmospherelaguna.com/
Catmosphere Laguna Foundation is Orange County’s first cat cafe and is located in the heart of Laguna Beach.
Their mission is to, “increase the county’s rate of feline adoptions and provide improved lives and futures for kitties awaiting their furrever homes.”
100% of their proceeds go directly to helping care for homeless cats, and all of their cats are up for adoption if you happen to fall in love while visiting!
The Purrfect Cat
Address – 5800 Santa Rosa Rd Suite 142, Camarillo, CA 93012
Phone – 805-419-6116
Website – NA
As one reviewer puts it, The Purrfect Cat is “more of a cat experience than a cafe.” You get the perfect fusion of food and drink while being surrounded by cats.
They didn’t have a website at the time of publishing, so you have to call them to check what their rules are and book a slot before turning up.
Champy’s Catfé & Adoption Center
Address – 454 F St, Lincoln, CA 95648
Phone – 916-434-0622
Website – https://www.fieldhavenmarketplace.com/champys-catfe
Just inside the door to FieldHaven Marketplace is Champy’s Catfé, it’s an enclosure with adoptable cats where you can hang out and spend time with the cats.
They don’t serve food or coffee, but you can bring your own while hanging out. It’s really a place to get to know the cats and give them some attention.
You can also apply to adopt any of the cats if you wish.
Feline Good Social Club
Address – 301 Atlantic Ave, Long Beach, CA 90802
Phone – 562-900-6127
Website – https://www.felinegoodsocialclub.com/
The Feline Good Social Club is more than a cat cafe, you can book private lounges for parties, small groups, or individually, participate in sound healing events, and even have comedy nights.
Their mission is the same as many cat cafes; it’s to, “is to provide a mutually-beneficial social interaction opportunity between humans and cats in a fun and comfortable setting, with the goal of placing our cats into permanent homes.”
It’s a good cause, and worth your time and money if you’re in the area and want to experience some time with their cats.
What to Expect at a Cat Cafe
Every cat cafe is going to be slightly different and have its own rules. If you’ve never been to a cat cafe, however, I can help prepare you.
First of all, you should always check out their website for the latest news and info. You’ll also have to book a time slot, and might have to sign a waiver.
It’s important you know what a cafe’s rules are, as these are in place for the safety and wellbeing of the cat – and for you, of course.
As for when you’re at a cat cafe, you can expect to drink good coffee (or whatever drink you prefer), and nibble on some food as you would at any cafe.
The most obvious difference being that cats are roaming around the cafe!
Most cafe cats are from rescues and will have been selected because they are social and love human interaction.
How much interaction you get will depend on the cats at the cafe, but one thing I can guarantee about visiting a cat cafe – it’s a unique and fun experience!
