A Look at The Best Cat Window Perches for Cats

Best Cat Window Perch

Heard of cat window perches? Not many people have actually, yet they are awesome products that almost any cat will thank you if you get one for them.

My cats are at their happiest when they are staring out one of the windows in the house. Can you say the same?

Whether they are chatting at birds, catching some warm sun, waiting for me to come home, or just checking out what’s going on – cats love windows.

A cat window perch is basically a bed that sticks to the window. Don’t worry, they stick really well with suction pads and won’t fall off or damage your window.

This means your cat can chill out and lay down in a soft comfy bed while not missing a thing going on outside.

Personally, I love them. So does my cat. So I thought I’d write up a rundown of 5 of the best cat window perch beds on the market for you:

5 of the Best Cat Window Perch Options

K&H Pet Products EZ Window Mount Kitty Sill

K&H Pet Products EZ Window Mount Kitty Sill

I like products that are appropriately named, like this kitty sill EZ window mount.

For those not up with the online lingo, ‘EZ’ means easy. Because, let’s be honest, pushing three suction cups onto a window is about as easy as it gets.

This is how most cat window sills attach to windows, so it’s no real surprise. They don’t use regular suction cups either, they are much stronger and reliable than window shield and other accessories you’ve seen drop off windows in the past.

This is one of the more popular window sills because it looks pretty cool, is made from a soft material for your kitty to snuggle into, and does everything you’d expect from a window sill, reliably.

Kitty Cot World’s Best Cat Perch

Kitty Cot World’s Best Cat Perch

What is it with companies naming cat-related products, ‘World’s best’?

While we’re on the topic I do have to admit that the World’s Best Cat Litter brand is very close to the mark. This window perch from Kitty Cot isn’t far off either, so these companies aren’t trying to pull the wool over our eyes.

This perch is made from ‘Super tough ¾” PVC,’ and uses the extra strong suction cups to keep it attached to a window, even with a heavy cat lazing on it.

It has two stainless steel support cables which should give it some extra support over the perches that stick directly to a window if you are the type to worry about the stability.

I’ll point out that this perch is available in three sizes too. So measure up your kitty and double-check how much space they need when bird watching and sleeping.

K&H Pet Products EZ Window Mount Double Level Stack

K&H Pet Products EZ Window Mount Double Level Stack

Do you know what’s better than a single level hanging window sill perch?

That’s right, a double level window perch. It’s like bunk beds, if you have two cats it makes more sense to space save and hook up a double level perch.

The good news for those of us with heavy cats – this perch can hold more than 100 lbs of cat. Apparently. But let’s not test it unless we really have to, that’s my advice.

A couple of cool features that I feel compelled to point out as selling points; the cover is removable and washable. Plus, you can fold this perch it towards the window to allow blinds to come down. Pretty cool.

With a total of six suction cups with tension knobs, this perch is going to stay up if you fix it up correctly.

PetPawJoy Cat Window Perch for Cats Up To 30lbs

PetPawJoy Cat Window Perch for Cats Up To 30lbs

This cat perch from PetPawJoy is advertised as a sunbath for cats to hang out in the window on a sunny day.

That’s one reason why your cat will spend the day on this perch. The others being they are patrolling the neighborhood with their eyes, chatting to birds, enjoying the views, using it because they can, and so on.

It’s a big platform. It measures in at 22” x 12” x 1.5”, has steel support cords, four suction pads, and the manufacturer says it can handle 30 lbs of cat no problem.

With the average cat weighing in around 10-15 lbs, fat cats need not feel left out. Just be sure to make the access nice and easy!

A little tip I picked up from browsing some of the reviews is to add a little coconut oil to the suction cup pad for an even stronger bond with the window. Can’t validate this myself, but why not give it a try if you’re concerned about the grip.

Oster Sunny Seat Window Mounted Cat Bed

Oster Sunny Seat Window Mounted Cat Bed

The Oster model adds an extra 20 lbs to the limit over the PetPawJoy. So, if you happen to have a cat that weighs up to 50 lbs; first of all what the heck are you feeding your cat?! Secondly, this window perch can handle its beefy weight.

It fits the same structure as most window perches. There are four suction cups that form a triangle structure with support cables.

Not a lot on the padding side on this perch. An easy fix if ever there was one, just add your kitty’s favorite blanket or cushion and you’re good to go.

An all-around great budget window perch option. It’s a shame we can’t bank on cats using anything we provide them, but window perches are pretty tempting so I recommend trying one out.

Some Tips and Safety Stuff When Choosing a Window Perch

We’ve all stuck something to a window before only to see it fall off at some point. This can’t happen with your cat bed when your cat is in it for obvious reasons.

So, the best advice here is to pay attention to the following:

Read the Instructions – This is an obvious one for most people. But if it saves a disaster for just one person reading this, it’s worth it.

I’m the worst for just getting on with DIY stuff and going by the picture on the box. But there are often little tips and things that you’ll only find out about by reading the instructions!

Weigh Your Cat – Don’t take a guess, weigh your cat so you know exactly how much they weigh and how much the perch you’ve chosen can handle.

They are designed to take the weight of chubby cats, so I’m sure it’ll be fine. But if you happen to have a large breed like a Maine Coon with a little spare around the tummy, pick a perch with plenty of spare capacity.

Check Your Windows – There is two part to the equation. The window perch, and the window you’re going to stick it on.

Check your window is not loose, the glass is clean, and there else going on that would cause the perch not to fix nice and tight.

Check the Dimensions – As well as checking the perch you want can take the weight of your cat, it also needs to be nice and big.

All the perches above have their dimensions, weight restrictions, and all the other small print on their Amazon listing. Don’t cramp your kitty!

Provide Easy Access – This is a tip aimed at all those aging cats as much as it is a practical tip. Make sure there is a clear and easy path to get themselves into and out of the perch.

I think that covers everything you will need to know about finding the perfect window perch for your cat.

The perch I have is very similar to the ‘World’s Best’ model I featured above. I can’t remember the name of the brand I had, but I know it’s no longer sold.

My cats had years of use from the perch. They are a little too old now and don’t use it any longer, but honestly, I loved seeing them chilling out in their perch watching the world go by.
