Best Cat Tree for Savannah Cats (5 Options That Tick All the Boxes)

Best Cat Tree for Savannah Cats

If you have a Savannah cat one of the most important items of furniture is a cat tree, and a good cat tree they will enjoy and get a lot of stimulation from is very important.

The best cat trees for Savannah cats need to be big, strong, have a place they can look out from a high, sleep, and most importantly redirect their scratching from your own furniture.

The good news is, there are some awesome trees on the market that won’t break the bank. I’ve done the hard work for you by narrowing it down to five of the best too as you’ll see below.

But first, let’s look and why it’s so important to have a cat tree for your Savannah to play on, and what to look out for when choosing one.

Why Do Savannah Cats Need a Cat Tree?

Savannah cats are one of the largest breeds of cat. They are long, agile, can weigh 20 lbs or more, and need a lot of stimulation and somewhere to burn off energy.

It’s hard to play with them all the time, and sometimes Savvanahs just want to do their own thing. Which is where cat trees come in.

Cat trees are the best way to mimic some of the obstacles they would find outdoors. They provide places to climb, scratch, hide, and more.

It’s not a complicated process choosing a cat tree, here are the basic things you should be looking out for:

What Makes a Good Cat Tree for Savannahs?

You have a large breed of cat, so you’re going to need a large tree. That much is obvious, the five trees I reviewed below vary in size, but all tick the boxes for the following:

Quality – Savannahs are powerful cats and anything less than a quality and durable tree is going to get destroyed pretty quick.

I’ve chosen brands I have used or owned personally and been very happy with, as well as materials that are going to withstand the scratching as long as possible.

Features – Cat trees come with all kinds of toys, hiding places, platforms, beds, and so on built into them.

In my experience, you need somewhere high for your cat to use as a lookout. As well as a bed, a platform to sit on, and sisal rope scratching posts.

Size – You need to go as big as you can when buying a cat tree for a Savannah. They are very long and absolutely love climbing.

I’ve included all the measurements for the cat furniture featured below. Try and find the largest piece that has everything you need for your kitty.

Molly and Friends Simple Sleeper Scratching Post and Bed

If you want a simple cat tower to keep one or two large cats amused then this Simple Sleeper from Molly and Friends is just the ticket.

It’s finished with a rope twine and carpet. So it’s both comfy if your kitty wants a snooze, and gives them somewhere to sharpen their claws.

This is very similar to an earlier Molly and Friends model of tree I’ve had for years.

My Maine Coon loves it, it’s strong enough, durable, and like most cats, he loves being up high sometimes.

The particulars are; 37″ tall, a small floor space, beige, blue and burgundy models, and incredibly simple assembly.

Go Pet Club Large Cat Tree

This large Go Pet Club cat tree was an easy pick for one of my top 5 cat trees for large cats like Savannahs.

The downside is that it doesn’t have large sleeping areas. But the pros are that it’s tall, has several platforms, scratching posts, and a little hideout.

It looks great, it’s finished with a light faux fur and all the poles have sisal rope for scratching.

This should be the pick if you have more than one cat, you’ll get as much entertainment as they do by watching them chase and hide from each other.

If you’re measuring up, it’s 51″ high, and the base covers 19″x19″.

Molly and Friends Two Tier Scratching Post

I love this two-tier Molly and Friends scratching post, it’s a great choice if you have a large cat or more than one cat.

It features a sleeping platform up high, where cats like to be so they can feel secure and keep an eye on things.

As well as a tunnel lower down to hide and play in. If you have two cats you’ll get plenty of entertainment watching them play with each other.

It’s great for large cats as the platforms are wide, but comes with a compact design at only 37″ tall.

Loads of colors to choose from. A cleverly designed and well-built cat tree that your Savannah will love.

Molly and Friends Four Tier Scratching Post

This is the popular four-tier Molly and Friends scratching cat tree that has been a favorite of large cat owners for years now.

It has it all. A couple of sleeping perches and a couple of lookout posts. Perfect if you have another large breed of cat too, like a Savannah or a Siberian.

It has a sisal rope scratching pole, and the others are carpeted like the tiered surfaces.

Make sure this one is going to fit in your home before buying. The larges pole is 60″ tall, and the base is just 24″x24″.

There are several colors to choose from. It’s high quality as it’s a Molly and Friends product, and they specialize in making awesome cat trees.

New Cat Condos Premier Large Cat Play Tree

If you don’t want a tall tree taking up space in your room then check out this New Cat Condos piece of cat furniture.

It’s a compact cat tree. It still has three-tiers and plenty for one or more cats to do, but won’t take up much space.

It’s only 20″x20″ on floor space, and just 33″ tall. It still provides plenty for your cats do and most important places for them to relax.

I really like it, you don’t always need the tallest tree you can find. As long as it has scratching areas, places to sleep and feel safe, and play, it ticks all the boxes.

I had a similar model for my Maine Coon and it worked out just fine. I ended up selling it as it outlasted him too, and he was a boisterous boy.
