What to Look for When Choosing a Cattery or Breeder
When choosing an Abyssinian cat breeder, it is important to do your research and make sure that you are getting a healthy, well-bred kitten.
Ask the breeder questions about the parents’ health and temperaments, and look for signs of a responsible and reputable operation.
It is also a good idea to visit the cattery or breeder in person to meet the Abyssinians and get a feel for their environment.
At the end of the day, you need to go with your head as well as your heart. If something doesn’t feel right, don’t be afraid to back out and wait to find a better-suited cattery.
Are Abyssinians Good Pets?
You’ll be hard-pressed to find a cat lover who doesn’t love Abyssinians and think they are awesome house cats.
Still, bias aside, you have to keep in mind that any cat you choose should have a temperament to fit in with your household.
The good news is that Abyssinians are very intelligent and active cats that love to play.
They do require some patience and understanding, however, as they can be a bit headstrong at times.
But overall, Abyssinians make great companions and are sure to bring lots of love and laughter into your home.
A Little History on Abyssinians
Abyssinians are interesting cats – both in how they look and what we know about their history.
They actually date back to the 1800s, making them one of the oldest domesticated cat breeds.
Abyssinian cats were first brought to Europe by British soldiers who had been stationed in Abyssinia during a war.
The Abyssinian cat is thought to be the only naturally occurring breed of cat in Africa.
The soldiers fell in love with the local cats and decided to bring some of them home with them.
Abyssinians are a very popular breed of cat in the US, which makes them all the more difficult to find.
